More Barb and Leah videos of Lanesboro
My mom and Leah have been here in Lanesboro for almost a week and I think they’re getting a little stir crazy in this small town. Good thing they brought their video camera and Final Cut Pro software.
Day five of their visit includes the Farmer’s Market, Rhubarb Pie, Summer Rain, Dinner at the Vintage, Bar Hopping, and Singing in the Streets.
Day Four is a little narrative experiment with a Final Cut Pro feature. Leah and I are able to transcend our sleeping bodies and let our spirits explore. Notice that Leah’s spirit is quite cautious and inquisitive while mine is sprightly and mischievous.

Man of La Mancha rehearsal

We’re about half way through the rehearsal process of ‘Man of La Mancha’ here at the Commonweal Theatre Company and I’m already very excited about the shape the show is taking. All of the orchestration is being provided onstage, by the actors, with found percussive instruments, a flute, a keyboard piano, and MY accordion! All of sudden I’m not at all nervous about singing or acting….I just want to be perfect on the accordion!
We’re featuring a tremendous amount of flamenco style clapping to flourish and embellish several songs throughout. When we were first learning all of the different rhythms and cross rhythms I felt for certain that smoke would issue forth from my ears from all the concentrating it required. But now, just a week later, I can feel it in my bones, like I was born to clap that pattern.
This is the second time I’ve performed in this musical in less than twelve months….we did it last year at TSF, go figure. But I’m more excited about the project this time around for two main reasons:
- I have a bigger role.
- This production is less musical-theatre-y

DollFace Photo Shoot
More than a year ago I participated in a photo shoot in New York City with my friend Kat. I blogged about how much fun it was to have our make up done and prance about the empty New York Film Academy lobby.
After a month or two of pestering the photographer without response, I accepted the fact that I would probably never see those photos developed. At one point, Kat and I believed the guy to be dead (that’s what his website said!). Turns out he’s not. And it turns out that we turned out.
