restorative

it was 5:30am when Luke accidentally leaned on the doorbell on his way out the door to the café. the tonal chimes roused me from dream i was having about standing in a long queue of people waiting for something bureaucratic to happen…so i was reluctant to return to such insipid slumber. instead, i lay in the bed canoodling a pillow as an almost April shower bathed the open panes of my windows.

months ago, during a walk through Zilker park on a dingy January day, i imparted with my arms wide open, that my heart of hearts desires lush greenery and sharp botanicals….vernal and vigorous vegetation soothes my somewhat irrational aversion to asphalt and automobiles.

and now,
the tree that encroaches into every window in our upstairs apartment is pregnant with leaves and buds and cacoons and twiggy nests,

and the air is fragranced with the balm of a thousand tiny flowers.

Northern Exposure

Ten months…including the cold ones…..singing, and acting, and administrating for The Commonweal Theatre Co.
